About Our Chapter

The Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) – Charlotte Chapter will hold our March 2017 on Wednesday, March 30.

We are pleased to have Will Ward, Enterprise Development - E2D, present this month’s program entitled “Eliminating the Digital Divide in Mecklenburg County”.  The Mission of E2D is to ensure that every student in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has essential, at-home access to computer technology and digital literacy support to achieve academic success. There are approximately 24,000 families in Mecklenburg County that do not have access to at-home technology.  Over the past 3 years E2D has eliminated the digital divide in Davidson, NC and empowered over 2,000 families in Mecklenburg County by providing laptops. Over 6,500 people use an E2D laptop every day.  E2D’s focus, however, goes beyond numbers; they are in the business of helping people help themselves. By simply empowering students with at-home technology, E2D improves their confidence and ability to succeed beyond the classroom.  E2D is looking for companies and individuals to join them in the fight to end the digital divide in Mecklenburg County by donating their decommissioned laptops. E2D has plans to distribute over 5,000 laptops in 2017 and they cannot achieve this goal without community support.
